Fishing Knots

SPIDER HITCH

This is the fastest and easiest knot to tie in order to create a double-line leader. While it is relatively strong, it does not have the resilience under sharp impact of the Bimini Twist. Therefore, it is not often used with lines about 30lb. test.

Create a loop of the leader a little longer than the length you need. Close to the point where the tag end meets the standing line and twist a section into a small reverse loop.

Take the small loop between your thumb and fore-finger. Extend your thumb and created loop well about the end of the thumb.

Wind the double line around the thumb and loop, taking 5 to 7 turns. Now pass the large loop (your double line) through the smaller one and pull it to make the turns unwind off the thumb.

Moisten and pull tight so turns slide tightly together. Trim off tag end.
